Mica Galvao is the most prominent young competitor of the early 2020s and one half (with Tainan Dalpra) of the Atos competition team's modern competitive identity. Born in Manaus in 2003 and trained from age six at the academy of Pablo "Pititi" Souza, Galvao competed extensively as a junior across multiple weight classes before being promoted to black belt by André Galvão at age 18 in 2021 — an unusually young promotion that reflected his already-elite competitive record.
In 2022, less than a year after promotion, Mica won the IBJJF Mundial at lightweight, becoming at 18 the youngest male black-belt world champion in IBJJF history. He has continued to compete at the elite level since, with ADCC medals in 2022 and 2024 and consistent presence on the IBJJF podium across lightweight and middleweight divisions. His competitive style is built on the modern Atos pedagogy: aggressive guard passing via the leg drag and knee cut, the berimbolo as the primary back-take entry, and the mounted triangle as the primary mount finish.
Mica is also notable as one of the most marketable young competitors in modern BJJ, with substantial social-media presence and instructional output that has helped maintain the sport's commercial growth in the 2020s. Alongside Tainan Dalpra, Mica represents the next generation of Atos and the continuation of the team's competitive rivalry with the New Wave (Danaher) team. As of 2026 Mica continues to compete at the elite level and is widely considered one of the top three lightweight or middleweight competitors in the world.
