Diogo Reis is one of the most decorated young competitors of the early 2020s IBJJF era and the leading rooster-weight / light-featherweight competitor at the time of writing in 2026. Born in 2001 in Brazil and trained at Dream Art under Marcio Andre, Reis has accumulated multiple IBJJF World Championships at black belt across the lightest weight classes and has built one of the most prolific young competitive resumes in modern BJJ.
Reis' competitive style emphasizes the modern lightweight competitive vocabulary — sophisticated standing-game grip fighting, aggressive berimbolo and De La Riva sweeps, and the submission-hunting approach that the Dream Art team has refined under Marcio Andre's coaching. His competitive matches against the broader rooster-weight and light-featherweight rosters (Mica Galvao at heavier weights, João and Paulo Miyao, the rising next generation) have produced technically sophisticated and high-finishing-rate competitive output.
Reis represents the generational shift in lightweight BJJ competition — where the Miyao brothers defined the modern lightweight style through the 2010s, Reis is among the leading figures defining the lightweight style of the 2020s and beyond. The Dream Art team's broader competitive output and pedagogical influence have contributed substantially to the continued evolution of lightweight competitive technique. As of 2026 Reis continues to compete at the elite level and is widely considered one of the top three rooster-weight / light-featherweight competitors in the world.
